We have been joyfully called as a church to serve the Dominican and Haitian communities of the Dominican Republic. Our first vision trip to the Dominican Republic was in late 2022 as we explored the potential partnerships and needs in the region. Since then, we've been back three times and have been able to bring the gospel message to hundreds of children and adults through word and action. This year, we will be visiting our partners to aid in gospel education and construction at two different schools in the Puerto Plata region. Through teaching, construction, and discipleship, we’ve witnessed firsthand how God’s plans are greater than our own, opening doors for long-term ministry and mutual encouragement in Christ.
Your generosity helps provide meals, education, and most importantly, the gospel to children and adults in the Dominican Republic. Every gift supports our partner schools and churches in need and enables us to build a stronger foundation and partnership in the Dominican Republic.
Partnership with Nest of Love
This school began as a small effort but, through the support of churches and organizations, has grown into a vibrant center of education for both Dominican and Haitian students. They provide not only academics but also jobs and housing for Haitian teachers and families. Yet as the school expands, the government is imposing restrictions on what they can teach. They have specifically asked for missionary support so that the gospel can continue to be shared alongside quality education.
Your prayers and contributions will help us sustain this partnership and bring the hope of Christ to hundreds of children each year.
Small Haitian Church & School
This is a small school of about 20 students meeting in the basement of a Dominican church. Run by the Haitian pastor’s wife and daughter, they are dedicated but under-resourced. With the loss of outside sponsorship, the school often struggles to provide food and basic supplies for the children, and they cannot afford to hire additional teachers. Despite these challenges, their pastor is committed to planting both Haitian and Dominican churches and welcomed our support with gratitude.
Your giving will help provide meals, educational resources, and much-needed stability for this community of faith.

Mission Report (April 2025)
A Heart for the Nations: Mission Work in the Dominican Republic
The heart of Christian mission is rooted in Matthew 28:19–20, where Jesus commands His
followers to “go and make disciples of all nations.” This command, often called the Great
Commission, is not merely a suggestion but a call to all believers to participate in God’s
redemptive work. The Bible tells the overarching story of God’s mission to restore the world, and
we, as His children, are invited to take part—through evangelism, discipleship, acts of love and
justice.
As a church filled with first- and second-generation immigrants, we’ve personally experienced
the blessings of overseas missions. It inspired us to follow the faithful footsteps of those who
brought the gospel to us. After prayerful consideration of location, safety, resources, and needs,
our eyes were opened to the Haitian refugee communities in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.
Our vision is to establish a ministry based in the DR, supported by North American churches, that
equips local Christian organizations—churches and schools alike. Through seminars,
collaboration, and hands-on support, we hope to strengthen leaders, pastors, and believers for
sustainable gospel work.
Since our first trip, we have connected with a long-term American Korean missionary who helped
link us with three local schools and introduced us to The Nest of Love and The Samaritan
Foundation. These organizations are deeply embedded in local community development. With
their help, our current goals include Vacation Bible School (VBS), infrastructure repairs, and
provision of basic supplies.
Our 2023 trip included VBS and construction work at Juan Calvino School. In 2024, we expanded
our outreach to a Dominican school supported by Nest of Love and a Haitian school in urgent
need after losing funding. We provided optometry care, built bookshelves, and donated food.
On our most recent trip this April, four of us spent three nights deeply immersed in the mission.
Day 1 focused on gathering supplies and preparing for ministry. On Day 2, we met with Evely,
the leader of several schools, and discussed long-term partnership. We delivered food and visited
schools and churches at 12 Kilometers, identifying areas for renovation. On Day 3, we returned
to Juan Calvino, inspecting urgent kitchen and washroom needs and revisiting a church we had
helped build two years ago. Though construction had stalled, we joined local women in heartfelt
prayer, a moment that deeply moved us.
We concluded our trip by meeting Reuben from the Samaritan Foundation, who offered vital
resources and connections for construction. We also explored lodging options for future teams
and scoped out kitchen equipment for school upgrades.
This trip was a testament to God’s leading. Through prayer, partnership, and planning, Yulin
Church and our supporters are laying the foundation for long-term mission in the Dominican Republic, rooted in relationship and sustained by faith.
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
